The possibilities of spring

The possibilities of spring

Cherry Blossoms

Spring can be a time of increased energy, creativity and vision.  Everything seems possible, flowers are blooming, ideas are sprouting.  The world is your oyster.  Life couldn’t be better.

Or maybe not.

For some, this seasonal transition is difficult, and they experience symptoms such as allergies, headaches, muscular tension, insomnia, and frustration.  But the body is wise in its symptoms, and with our conscious attention they can serve as reminders of how to live well.

We would all like to have less unnecessary suffering and more ease and joy in our lives.  This comes, in large part, by approaching our symptoms with a degree of curiosity rather than opposition and allowing them to be our teachers.   It’s only when our symptoms become concretized in the body, when they cease to come and go in a natural way, that pathology begins.  These are like energetic knots that with treatment can begin to relax and release.  This is different for everyone, but sometimes feeling depressed comes from a lack of movement.  Or allergies are a result of not enough sleep.  If you’re feeling stuck, irritated or overwhelmed, then you’ve got lots of potential energy that just needs to be redirected!

As Dr. Mike said in his health talk on Monday – healthcare is what we do to take care of ourselves.  What simple things could you change in your life to tap into the momentum of springtime?

I’m giving a free talk on Tuesday, April 10th at 6:30 at DeMasi Wellness that’ll help get you unstuck: 6 Steps for a Healthier Spring.  Call 412-927-4768 to register.
