Say yes to winter
How do we make the most of this time of year? I’ll give you a hint – it’s not by getting a jump on your holiday shopping at midnight tomorrow. Rather than fighting against the season, try diving in deeper. If you’re feeling tired, maybe even sad, maybe even SAD, can you see that this could be an invitation to live differently for a few months? It’s an invitation to slow down, rest, contemplate life, hunker down, relax, restore, rejuvenate.
Say yes.
Say no to that Christmas party you always feel obligated to attend, and say yes to everything that brings you closer to who you really are.
Just like a bulb underground, bursting with potential, we need time to incubate in the rich, dark soil of winter.
Here are some practical ways to do that:
eat nourishing foods like soups and stews
drink your water at room temperature or warmer – no ice!
wear a scarf
allow space for peace and quiet (maybe lots of space!)
go to bed earlier
use warming herbs like ginger and cinnamon
